Harrisburg officer accused of theft gets ARD

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A suspended city police officer accused of theft has been admitted into the accelerated rehabilitative disposition program.

Jennie Jenkins was also ordered to pay $350.

Jenkins was facing trial on four charges of theft by unlawful taking for allegedly mismanaging funds while serving as president of the Harrisburg Police Athletic League.

Investigators said she stole $7,000 by writing checks to herself and submitting falsified time sheets.

Jenkins was suspended from the Harrisburg Police Department following the allegations in October 2013.

The ARD program allows first-time offenders to remove their cases from the criminal justice system.
