Lancaster man on trial for killing roommate in 2014

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – A homicide trial is underway for a city man charged with killing his part-time roommate 16 months ago.

Vandy Blankenship, 52, is accused of strangling and fatally stabbing 60-year-old Donald Reinmiller in the neck in September 2014.

Blankenship denies he killed Reinmiller. He says the two were casual friends and he found Reinmiller unconscious in the kitchen when he dropped by the apartment in the 800 block of North Lime Street.

Prosecutors say the two were intimately involved, and they say police found blood on Blankenship’s shoes and his bloody footprints at the scene.

Testimony is expected to last through the week.
