HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Food is something many people look forward to at the Pennsylvania Farm Show. This year, people can find lots of new choices.
The PennAg fish nachos are one of the new menu items this year. Health-conscious visitors can try seasoned trout or tilapia on a warm corn tortilla and served on a bed of nachos. You can top it off with light lime crema, pico de gallo, shredded slaw, and pickled onions.
Bacon gets a new twist at the PennAg food booth. Chocolate-covered bacon combines sweet and salty foods. It’s a piece of thick-cut bacon coated with a layer of milk chocolate.
“We guessed at a number, and it sold out. We had it for Friday, Saturday, and we were out for Sunday. We did get another order in, and we’re going to be good to go for Monday. That was 1,100 slices that sold,” said Mindy Fleetwood, assistant vice president of PennAg Industries Association.
The Farm Show has four new BBQ sauces. PennAg makes the original and spicy sauces, and Mike Dawg’s Sauce comes in Bacon BBQ and Mesquite BBQ.
The Farm Show is having a BBQ contest to vote on the four new flavors. The winner gets a year’s supply of a sauce to share with family and friends. You can participate in the “What’s Your BBQ Style?” contest through the QR code found at the PennAg food both.
Those who love seafood can try the PennAg fish nachos.
“This year, to do something different, we’ve incorporated them [fish] into a nacho,” Fleetwood said. “We have a bed of nachos. It is a hand-rolled fresh flour tortilla. You can do the Pennsylvania trout or the tortilla-crusted tilapia.”
