1 dead, 1 wounded in shooting near Duncannon

DUNCANNON, Pa. (WHTM) – State police say a fatal shooting Monday morning at a Penn Township apartment happened during an eviction.

Police said there was an altercation and shots were fired at the Pfautz Apartments on Rebecca Drive around 10:05 a.m.

One person in the apartment died and another was flown to a hospital. Authorities said the condition of the man in the hospital is unknown.

They added that all those involved have been identified and there is no danger to the public. They would not confirm whether the gunshots were exchanged between two people.

Police did not immediately identify the victims, but neighbors say they know who was shot. One woman told us she is dreading having to tell her daughter what happened.

“I don’t know if she’s going to handle it very well,” she said. “It’s horrible. How do you tell a little girl something like this happened? How do you explain that? I’m an adult and I don’t understand it.”

In a statement on the district’s website, Susquenita school administrators said they’re working to address potential impacts of the incident on staff and students.
