Ephrata man dies from New Year’s Eve fire

EPHRATA, Pa. (WHTM) – A man hospitalized since a New Year’s Eve apartment fire has died.

James T. Ramsay died Thursday of smoke inhalation, Ephrata police said in a news release Friday.

Ramsay was rescued from a burning apartment in the 600 block of East Main Street. He was hospitalized in critical condition for smoke inhalation and burns.

The fire is listed as accidental. Investigators said it was caused by careless smoking.
