HALLAM, Pa. (WHTM) — The York County SPCA is looking for information on a dog found dead with more than a hundred wounds.
The SPCA received a call Christmas morning when a Good Samaritan found the dog while walking his own dog near the intersection of Track Lane on Hill View Road in Hellam Township.
Investigators said the white, adult male pit bull had 110 bites and a suspicious wound to the middle of its chest. They believe the animal had been used for dog fighting.
“My first thought was that he was probably in a lot of pain,” SPCA executive director Melissa Smith said. “My second thought was that I hope that he didn’t suffer too long before he passed away. We don’t know.”
“Did he die at the location where he was dumped, or did he die previously and then he was dumped there? We just don’t know,” she said.
There is a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible. Anyone with information should call the York County SPCA at 717-764-6109 ext. 127.
