STEELTON, Pa. (WHTM) – A Steelton man is facing child endangerment charges after police say he kept 11 children inside a home covered with trash and feces.
Tyree R. Fluellen, 29, was arrested Tuesday for aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
Fluellen’s arrest stems from an investigation that began in the summer when Steelton police and Dauphin County Children and Youth searched through his home in the 500 block of N. 2nd St.
Maggots overflowing trash cans and toilets and bath tubs filled to the rim with feces were observed inside the home.
Flies and raw meat, feces on the floor, and several unidentified bugs were also discovered.
Six of the children reportedly contracted Shigella, a bacteria that causes diarrhea and is commonly spread by multiple persons living in close proximity with poor sanitation.
Fluellen is being held in Dauphin County Prison.
