Newberry Township police officer involved in crash

NEWBERRYTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) – A Newberry Township police officer was involved in a crash Sunday night while responding to a domestic call.

State police spokesman Trooper Robert Hicks said the officer was traveling west on Lewisberry Road in a marked patrol car with emergency lights activated.

The other driver was traveling north on York Road and for unknown reasons failed to stop at the posted stop sign. She drove into the path of the responding officer, causing the officer to strike her vehicle, Hicks said.

The officer was treated for minor injuries at the scene. The other driver was taken to Penn State Hershey Medical Center by ambulance with unknown injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.
