Northern York County Regional Police arrested two people after a brief pursuit Sunday.

It happened around 1:10 p.m. at the intersection of North George Street and West 11th Avenue.

Police say an officer watched the driver, a 16-year-old male from York City, commit a traffic violation and tried to stop the vehicle when the 16-year-old took off.

After a brief pursuit, the driver and passenger, 18-year-old Esteban Samuel Martinez Velaquez, abandoned the vehicle on East 8th Avenue.

The officer followed the two males on foot and tackled one of the subjects. Police say a witness tackled the other.

Velaquez is facing numerous charges including criminal mischief, prohibited offensive weapons and firearms not to be carried without a license.

The 16-year-old, who is not named, is facing a felony charge of fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer.
