HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Police in Harrisburg are searching for the man who sped off during a traffic stop and nearly hit an officer early Saturday.
Sharief Markell Hand, 22, of Steelton, was driving a Toyota Sequoia when police pulled him over just after midnight in the 100 block of N. 17th Street.
Officers on scene blocked Hand’s vehicle with two police cruisers. However, police say when an officer approached Hand’s car, he accelerated forward, ramming the door of a police cruiser and narrowly missing another officer on the road.
Hand’s vehicle was later found abandoned near N. 19th and Park streets in the city.
Hand, who is on parole for robbery, is considered armed and dangerous.
Hand has been charged with criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault, fleeing and eluding, accidents involving attended vehicles, accidents Involving, unattended vehicles, careless driving, driving without a license, suspended registration, driving at safe speeds.
