(WHTM) – Traffic is now flowing on the new Route 411 bypass around the Columbia Borough. The bypass opened Thursday morning in western Lancaster County.
PennDOT began construction began last May in an effort to help direct truck traffic away from traveling through Columbia’s downtown area.
Two new traffic signals have been installed, one at the north end of the bypass near Chickies Hill Road and another near the south end of the bypass at Bridge Street.
Kinsley Construction of York was contracted by PennDOT to complete the $11.8 million project.
