Police: Drunk who fled arrested in portable toilet

CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) – A suspected drunken driver who fled police was arrested after officers said they found him hiding in a tipped-over portable toilet.

Middlesex Township police said they had stopped Kenneth Wardle Jr. for a traffic violation on Thursday, and he initially handed over his license and registration. However, when the officer noticed signs of intoxication, they said Wardle took off and ditched his vehicle in a field in Silver Spring Township.

Police used a K9 to track Wardle to the porta-potty and he was taken into custody.

Wardle, of Mechanicsburg, was charged with DUI, fleeing and eluding, reckless endangerment, agricultural vandalism, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He told police he fled because he was being held at gunpoint by another person in his van and didn’t want the officer to get shot.

Police said no one else was in the van when they stopped him.
