2 injured in pedestrian crashes at Lebanon intersection

LEBANON, Pa. (WHTM) – Two people were injured in two pedestrian accidents early Friday at the intersection of Ninth and Chestnut streets, police said.

A city man, 58-year-old Thomas Berkley, was crossing Ninth when he was hit by a northbound vehicle and thrown into the middle of the intersection around 5:30 a.m., according to a police news release.

A second vehicle traveling west on Chestnut then hit Berkly and 58-year-old Ed McCann, a city-employed street sweeper who had stopped to help. Police said the second accident occurred about a minute after the first.

Both men were taken to Penn State Hershey Medical Center for treatment.

The drivers stopped at the scene. Police said the driver involved in the first accident called 911 and provided aid.
