CAMP HILL, Pa. (WHTM) – People who get a phone call threatening their electricity will be shut off should be aware of another scam.
Lower Allen Township police said callers claiming to be from PPL Electric Utilities have been targeting businesses this time around. The callers claim the businesses are behind on their electric bill and the power is going to be disconnected.
The callers were described as rude, pushy and aggressive.
All businesses that received the calls verified their accounts with PPL, police said, and no information was provided to the caller.
Police said residents should do the same. Don’t give any personal or financial information over the phone; just hang up and call your utility company’s main office to verify your account status.
