MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Imagine you’re a part of a football team, and you’ve just played in one of the longest games in the sport’s history at the high school level.
Not only did you win, but you beat your arch rival to secure a district championship. You would probably be walking on cloud nine for a few days after that, right?
As much as Cumberland Valley would like to keep the celebration going, the party had to be short lived for the AAAA District Champions. They’ve already turned their attention to Saturday’s PIAA state semifinal game against Pittsburgh powerhouse Central Catholic.
Cumberland Valley last won a state championship in 1992, when Jon Ritchie was the starting fullback. The Eagles may get one step closer to erasing that 23 year long drought with a win Saturday.
