Senate plan introduced for possible removal of AG Kane

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – Pennsylvania senators are considering a proposed process that could lead to the removal from office of embattled state Attorney General Kathleen Kane.

The Special Committee on Senate Address introduced a five-page resolution Monday that envisions a hearing on Jan. 12 where Kane would be able to give her side of the story.

The committee would issue a report 15 days later.

The hearing’s focus will be whether Kane can perform the duties of her office with a law license that the state Supreme Court put on indefinite, temporary suspension.

Kane currently faces criminal allegations she leaked secret grand jury material and lied under oath about it.

Kane’s said the committee’s work violates the state constitution. Her spokesman, Chuck Ardo, says she’ll decide how to respond once she’s had an opportunity to review the resolution carefully.
