HANOVER, Pa. (WHTM) – A Maryland man is in custody after authorities say he slammed his car door on a West Manheim Township police officer’s hand.
It happened during a traffic stop Saturday in the 2200 block of Baltimore Pike. Police say 38-year-old Robert Lee Difatta of Westminster, MD was pulled over for an inoperable taillight.
Backup was called when Difatta, who was reportedly argumentative and uncooperative, rolled up his window and moved out of the officer’s view.
When police attempted to arrest Difatta, he slammed the door shut on an officer’s hand and locked it, trapping the officer for a short time.
Difatta was arrested after a brief struggle with police.
He has been arraigned and charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, obstructing the administration of law, and related traffic offenses.
