Death of McCaskey basketball star ruled homicide

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – The Lancaster County coroner says the death of a former McCaskey High School basketball standout is a homicide.

Anthony C. Hunter Jr., 26, died as the result of a traumatic brain injury, Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni told ABC 27 News after an autopsy Monday morning.

Investigators are not saying what caused the fatal injury.

Hunter, of Lancaster, was a basketball all-star before graduating from McCaskey in 2007. He was found unconscious Saturday afternoon at the Lancaster Green Apartments, in the 1600 block of Judie Lane in Lancaster Township, and died at a hospital.

Officers had been called to the apartment complex for a report of an assault.

Police said they are working to determine who was involved and how the homicide occurred. They said the incident happened in an apartment complex where there are many people moving about.
