For the 9th year, abc27 participated in Kidde Corporation’s “Operation Save a Life,” a nationwide program that gets smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to those that need them.
In partnering with the project, abc27 distributed the alarms to fire companies on Saturday. They, in turn, install them in homes for free.
In our nine years with the program, abc27 has distributed more than 30,000 alarms in all of our counties; Dauphin, Cumberland, Adams, Perry, Franklin, York, Lancaster, and Lebanon. Nationwide, Kidde has distributed more than 1.2 million since the beginning of the program in 2002.
This year, abc27 gave out 3,500 alarms.
Among those who made the project possible were Home Depot, Millers Mutual and Kidde.
If you have a need for one of the alarms, please contact your local fire department.
