PHILADELPHIA (AP) – A former attorney general of Maryland will lead a team to investigate the exchange of pornography and other objectionable content in emails by Pennsylvania prosecutors, judges and others on state-owned computers.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane announced Tuesday that she’s hired Doug Gansler to look into what she calls “racist, misogynistic, homophobic and religiously offensive” emails.

The team will look for violations of Pennsylvania’s criminal, civil or ethics laws.

Kane’s law license is currently suspended while she awaits trial on charges she leaked secret grand jury material to a newspaper and lied about it.

The state Senate is considering whether to initiate a process to remove her from office.

Gansler was Maryland’s attorney general for two terms. He lost a race for the Democratic nomination for Maryland governor last year.
