“Focus areas” increase hunters’ chances of nabbing deer

(WHTM) – Today is the start of firearm deer season in Pennsylvania. This year, there’s something new that hunters should know about.

Green and yellow signs are up all over the state to mark deer hunter “focus areas.” They are sections of land where deer are concentrated, which means if you hunt there, your chances of napping a deer are much higher.

Signs are posted in 35 sections of state game lands, including six in the Midstate.

There are other benefits to “focus areas.” They’ll thin out the deer herd and help restore vegetation.
