Police pursuit in Harrisburg ends in crash

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A city woman was arrested after police said she crashed while fleeing officers early Monday.

Mercedes Mundy, 23, is charged with a felony count of fleeing and eluding. She also faces charges of DUI and several summary traffic violations.

Officers were called to the 100 block of Boas Street for a report of people fighting around 2:20 a.m. One of the cars involved was traveling in reverse, apparently to avoid to the officers, and then fled at a high rate of speed, police said.

Officers lost sight of the car near North Third and Forster streets, but found it again when it crashed near the intersection of North Seventh and Forster.

The car caught fire and several adults were taken to a hospital. Their injuries are unknown at this time.
