MOUNT JOY, Pa. (WHTM) – A Lancaster County woman was arrested after police said she used a massage business as a front for prostitution.
Crystal L. Sweigart, 32, of Mount Joy, used Craigslist to recruit potential clients, according to charging documents.
“I was seeing people for massages and then I was having free fun afterwards,” Sweigart told ABC 27 News.
Sweigart spoke through a slightly opened door when she explained the charges to ABC 27 News. Investigators said she made about $400 a day selling sex in her Hopewell Street home.
“I sat there and ran a massage business out of my home, without a license, I have to admit,” Sweigart said. “My act wasn’t prostitution. When they came here, people were here for the massage.”
Neighbors had complained about the number of people going in and out Sweigart’s home, according to the complaint, and two people questioned by police admitted they paid Sweigart for sex.
Detectives who spent weeks investigating Sweigart said she saw 5-10 men a day.
“I’ve seen different vehicles down there,” neighbor Robert McMinn said.
Sweigart said she was paid, but for massages only.
“It was the fact that the ones they did catch outside here I did have sex with and they did give me money,” she said.
Police arrested Sweigart’s neighbor, 49-year-old Bonnie Althouse, on allegations she helped to run the brothel.
They also have an arrest warrant for Charles Ford Jr. Police said he helped to recruit potential clients.
