DA: South Middleton man to be charged in abuse death of infant son

John Howard-Bee (Cumberland County Prison)

CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) – A South Middleton Township man arrested for abusing his infant son last week will be charged with criminal homicide on Monday because the 6-week-old baby has died, Cumberland County District Attorney Dave Freed said.

John T. Howard-Bee, 22, admitted to shaking and hitting his son when he wouldn’t stop crying, Freed said during a news conference Thursday.

The baby boy was treated at Carlisle Regional Medical Center and then transported to Penn State Hershey Medical Center on Nov. 10. He died at the hospital Nov. 12.

Freed said the child suffered severe brain trauma, a fractured skull, and other injuries. He said there was evidence of prior abuse and the baby was malnourished and underweight.
