Expectant parents hope that their baby will be born healthy. However, sometimes babies are diagnosed during pregnancy with medical conditions that will require surgical care during infancy. When this happens, the staff of the Perinatal Program at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital is here to support and coordinate all necessary prenatal and postnatal care for the mother and her unborn baby. Women who come to Penn State Hershey’s Perinatal Program have two options: they may be seen here in consultation and continue care with their referring obstetrician, or they may transfer care to complete their pregnancy and deliver at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
The Perinatal Program at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital offers a wide variety of pediatric specialists for babies whose medical conditions may require surgical care in the days or months after birth. Every specialist within the Perinatal Program shares one common goal: to provide extraordinary care to pregnant women and their babies, both before and after birth.
