HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A Middletown man accused of raping a young girl has been found guilty of all charges.
A Dauphin County jury returned the verdict Monday at the trial of Richard Soto, according to the district attorney’s office.
Prosecutors said Soto, 34, sexually assaulted the girl for two years, beginning when she was 6 years old.
He was found guilty of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of a minor and indecent exposure.
Sentencing is scheduled January 19.
Prosecutors said the girl reported the abuse to her mother. Instead of protecting her child, they said the mother warned the girl not to tell anyone or she would “beat her butt.”
The mother was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and pleaded guilty earlier this year.
Prosecutors said the girl no longer lives with her mother.
