PAXTANG, Pa. (WHTM) – Multiple crews battled a large commercial building fire in Dauphin County.
It broke out shortly after midnight Tuesday at a building along the 3200 block of Pike Street in Paxtang. The building housed JB Custom Counters, an engineering firm, and an artwork business.
Paxtang Borough Manager Keldeen Stambaugh says she’s relieved no one was hurt.
“I was obviously very concerned immediately about the residents,” Stambaugh said. “I figured the businesses wouldn’t have anybody in there in the offices or warehouses at that time, but obviously the residents would be sleeping and at home, and there could be potential injury. There were no injuries involved this evening, and we’re very grateful for that.”
Some homes close to the building had melted or peeled siding.
The fire chief said he believes the building will be a total loss due to fire, water, and smoke damage. He says the fire marshal is investigating and expects it to take about one day to know the damage estimate and cause.
