MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – At a meeting Monday night, the Cumberland Valley School District unveiled its plan to ease overcrowding.
In the last five years, more than 1,300 new students have enrolled in the district and nearly 850 of those students are at the elementary level.
Because of the influx of new students, the district is creating a plan to redistribute students.
Phase one, which would take place in the 2017-2018 school year, would move 81 students from Silver Spring Elementary to Monroe.
The following year, there would be a district-wide redistribution involving a new elementary and middle school.
Two more planning meetings are scheduled for November 9 and 23. The district could then vote on the recommendations.
