FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa. (WHTM) – People who live and work near Fort Indiantown Gap may notice smoke at the military facility when controlled burns begin next week.

The burns are used to clear away underbrush and reduce the risk of fires caused by artillery practice and other exercises.

Burns will begin Monday and continue until November 25.

Each will be conducted between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. as long as wind and other weather conditions are ideal for managing fires.
