CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) – A Carlisle woman will serve up to 14 years in prison for the death of a man who was tied up, beaten and then dumped in a South Middleton Township driveway.
Stephanie Scott, 37, was sentenced to 7-14 years Thursday after pleading guilty to criminal homicide in the death of Joseph Mahoney, according to court records.
Scott testified at a preliminary hearing last year that she was renting a room from Mahoney and he was sexually abusing her. She told the court that she and Mahoney were drinking and fighting on the night of Sept. 6, 2014 before she, her son and a her son’s friend tied up Smith and beat him for at least 45 minutes.
Mahoney was then dumped in a South Middleton Township driveway. His body was found the next day.
Scott testified at the hearing that they didn’t intend to kill Mahoney but wanted to teach him a lesson.
Her son, 19-year-old Duane Fason Jr., is awaiting trial on criminal homicide and other charges. His friend, Kaysean Smith, was sentenced to 10-20 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in May.
