HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo was at the state Capitol on Wednesday as an environmental activist.
Known for his role as “The Hulk” in the “Avengers” films, Ruffalo was using his power of influence in the fight against fracking; the process of extracting natural gas from Marcellus shale.
He urged Governor Wolf to place a moratorium on fracking, which forces water into the ground to break up the shale. Some studies suggest fracking is contaminating ground water and making people sick.
“Money isn’t everything,” Ruffalo said. “If you’re poisoning people to get money, then the money you get is blood money.”
Ruffalo sent Wolf petitions with 30,000 signatures and urged him to visit fracking regions and meet the people living there.
