Lancaster man gets prison for leaving 4 children home alone

Tyrell Boyer (Lancaster County District Attorney's Office)

LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – A city man is going to prison for leaving his four children home alone.

Tyrell Boyer, 27, was sentenced to one to two years behind bars this week. He had pleaded guilty last month to four misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child, according to court documents and the Lancaster County district attorney’s office.

Authorities said Boyer’s children, all under age 5, were left alone while he went to a friend’s house and their mother was at work.

A neighbor found his 2-year-old son wandering Rockland Street in September 2014. Police found the other children in a family room, with a washing machine blocking their access to the kitchen.

Boyer told police he was gone an hour or two.
