Each year in the United States, suicide claims more lives than war, murder, and natural disasters combined, Over 90 percent of those who die by suicide have a diagnosable psychiatric disorder at the time of their death. Next week is national mental health awareness week and ever Thursday and Friday throughout the month of October, Cumberland Goodwill EMS will be wearing green to raise awareness for this often overlooked crisis.
Nathan Harig, the Assistant Chief at Cumberland Goodwill EMS shared with us his tips on dealing with those suffering from mental health issues in order prevent suicide.
