LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – A Delaware County woman will serve three years of probation for having a man set fire to her recently-purchased SUV when it turned out to be a lemon.
Kimberly Stretch was sentenced after pleading guilty Monday to a felony count, according to the Lancaster County district attorney’s office.
Her accomplice, Daniel Fobes, was previously sentenced to 6 to 23 months in prison after a jury convicted him of arson, conspiracy and criminal mischief.
Prosecutors said Stretch paid $7,000 for the SUV, had trouble with it, and was unable to rectify the situation with the dealership.
She recruited Forbes in a plot to collect on the insurance, and Fobes in April 2014 took the SUV to a wooded area in Elizabeth Township, doused it in gas and set it on fire.
