CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) – When the rain comes fast and hard, intersections like East High Street and North Spring Garden Street can turn into small ponds very quickly.
“It happens in a matter of minutes and the cars just keep driving through it,” Molly Garman said.
The flooding can cause problems for nearby businesses like Century 21.
“Agents cannot get in and out of the parking lot,” Garman said. “The water comes up to the bottom of my tires. That is pretty far up and it is supposed to rain about five inches tonight, so that is a lot of rain at one time.”
Garman says the flooding happens at least once or twice a year, but there is not much they can do.
“It is the poor drainage around here and I do not know how that can be solved, and it happens every time it rains hard,” she said.
Officials urge homeowners to make sure storm drains are clear of debris to help with drainage.
