York County man arrested for failing to register as sex offender

GLEN ROCK, Pa. (WHTM) – A 47-year-old man has been arrested and charged for failing to register as a sex offender in York County.

Police say Herbert Roy McQuade Jr was arraigned Friday after leaving York Hospital for self-inflicted injuries.

According to a police report, officers were at a warehouse last week in the Glen Rock Borough searching for McQuade. When McQuade learned he was going to be arrested, police say he grabbed a pair of scissors, tried to cut his wrist and proceeded to stab himself in the chest.

Officers were forced to Tase McQuade before finally arresting him.

McQuade is charged with failure to comply with registration of sexual offenders requirements and resisting arrest. His criminal history includes second-degree rape.

He was committed to York County Prison on $75,000 bail.
