Pa. senators want increased penalties for home invasions

A bill to end live pigeon shoots in Pennsylvania is once again in the state legislature.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Two Pennsylvania senators say they plan to introduce legislation to toughen penalties for burglaries that involve home invasions.

Sens. John Rafferty (R-Berks/Chester/Montgomery) and John Sabatina (D-Philadelphia) say their proposal would double maximum penalties in cases where the intent is to seriously hurt someone in the home, or where the intruder commits or threatens to commit bodily injury.

They say the measure would give judges the discretion to impose sentences much longer than the law currently provides.
