ATM skimmer found on Petro ATM, police say

CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) – Police say a device that is used to illegally collect debit card information was found attached to an ATM at the Petro truck stop on Route 11.

Middlesex Township police said the device, known as a skimmer, was on the ATM near the front entrance.

The other ATM’s at the truck stop did not have a skimmer attached, police said.

Skimmers are used to illegally obtain debit card account numbers and the personal identification numbers, or PINs, associated with them.

The device has been removed.

Police said anyone who used that ATM should look closely at their bank statements and request a new card.
