Water bottles sold at Target recalled for choking hazard

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Water bottles sold exclusively at Target during a “Back to College” promotion are being recalled because of a choking hazard.

The Zak Designs 26-ounce plastic water bottles have a flip-top spout on a twist-off cap, and the inner straw can break, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Zak Designs has received nine reports of the straw breaking, including seven reports of plastic fragments spit out by children using the bottle. No injuries have been reported.

The 10-inch tall water bottles have popular characters on the front and come in a variety of colors. Characters include Captain America, a Batman design, Minions, My Little Pony, Spiderman, Star Wars aircraft, a Superman logo, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Thor and Wonder Woman.

Bottles with a black inner straw and black twist-off cap are not included in the recall.

The bottles were sold from June 2015 through July 2015 for about $10.
