Lost briefcase causes bomb scare at Brownstown convenience store

BROWNSTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) – Police officers and a state police bomb squad converged on a Lancaster County convenience store Friday afternoon after a Virgina man forgot his briefcase.

West Earl Township police said they received a call about a suspicious package at the Sheetz store in the 4100 block of Oregon Pike around 12:39 p.m. They responded to find the case behind a parking space in the southeast parking lot.

Authorities said the incident was brought to a close when the 67-year-old man returned to the scene and walked past the police lines. He told investigators he accidentally misplaced his case and had returned to look for it.
