LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – A Pennsylvania appeals court has upheld a sentence that keeps a convicted child molester behind bars until he’s at least 94 years old.
Jerry Allen Reed, 74, of Lancaster, argued the jury that convicted him in 2014 shouldn’t have heard evidence of a previous sex abuse. Superior Court denied his appeal Wednesday, according to the Lancaster County district attorney’s office.
Reed was sentenced to 21 to 50 years for sexually abusing a teenager between 2007 and 2010.
At his trial, prosecutors introduced evidence that Reed raped a female who became pregnant and had a child in the 1980’s. The abuse was never reported to police or prosecuted, but the evidence was permitted at trial.
Superior Court agreed the evidence was appropriate for trial.
