HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Amtrak is making changes to its Keystone Service between Harrisburg and Philadelphia.
The new schedule will allow better through-service to New York City, according to a joint news release from Amtrak and PennDOT.
Beginning Oct. 5, eastbound train 600 departing Harrisburg at 6:30 a.m. is rescheduled to leave Harrisburg at 6:45 a.m. and continue to New York. Officials said the travel time to New York will be reduced by 13 minutes.
A new eastbound train, 644, will leave Harrisburg at 6 a.m. The change allows the train to continue to New York and eliminates the need for passengers to change trains in Philadelphia, according to the news release.
Eastbound train 648 departing Harrisburg at 11:00 a.m. is rescheduled to depart at 10:00 a.m.
Westbound trains 641 and 643 departing Philadelphia at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., respectively, will also stop at Coatesville and Mount Joy.
Westbound train 609, which currently originates in Philadelphia at 10 a.m., will originate in and depart from New York at 12:55 p.m. It will leave Philadelphia at 2:45 p.m. and arrive in Harrisburg at 4:30 p.m.
