HUMMELSTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) – Police have charged two teens in an alleged plot to burglarize a home in South Hanover Township.
Tristan Lee Shaffner, 19, is charged with criminal conspiracy and burglary. Devon Glover Dice, 18, is charged with burglary.
A 17-year-old involved, who police have not named, is facing potential charges in juvenile court.
According to a police report, the burglary took place last year in November. Shaffner conspired with Dice and a 17-year-old to steal valuables from a home on the 100 Blue Jay Way, police say.
Police say the residence was being watched over by a 17-year-old girl while homeowners were on vacation. She told police she was in a relationship with Shaffner and that he even spent the night at the residence.
On the date of the incident, police say Shaffner intentionally distracted the house-sitter while Dice and a 17-year-old entered the home through a door Shaffner purposely left unlocked.
Items stolen included Louis Vuitton purses and Tiffany jewelry items. Police say the total amount of valuables stolen valued at $26,295.
Police say the three planned on selling the items at a local market.
On April 24, Shaffner surrendered himself to police with an attorney. He was taken into custody and his bail was set at $250,000.
It’s unclear if Dice was arrested without incident. He arraignment took place on Tuesday.
Police have additionally charged Shaffner with rape, sexual assault, and intimidation of victim and or witness. Police say those charges stem from related sexual assault accusations.
