Steelton police chief, borough manager placed on leave

STEELTON, Pa. (WHTM) – Steelton’s police chief and borough manager are on administrative leave, ABC 27 News has learned.

Council president Jeffrey Wright confirmed Wednesday that Chief John King and borough manager Sara Gellatly were on leave, but he said he couldn’t say why because it’s a personnel matter.

Mayor Tom Acri also refused to comment on the matter.

Both were notified by the council that they were being placed on leave Wednesday morning.

It’s unclear whether King and Gellatly are on paid or unpaid leave.

ABC 27 previously reported that the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry was investigating incidents where King and Gellatly apparently signed off on building projects.

Both reportedly signed building permits between April and July while the borough was without a codes enforcement officer, and neither was certified to act as a codes officer.

Council’s next meeting is Tuesday evening.
