HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A Harrisburg man is headed to trial on charges he molested two children for approximately 10 years.

John Reid, 57, waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday and allowed all 33 counts against him to proceed to Dauphin County court, according to court records.

Reid was arrested in March after authorities said he forced an 8-year-old to engage in sex acts beginning in 2003. They said the assaults continued until 2011, when the victim was 16 years old.

His estranged wife, city councilwoman Sandra Reid, said she was the first person to report the alleged abuse to police.

A second accuser came forward after his arrest.

The charges against Reid include multiple counts of rape, involuntary deviate sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault, unlawful contact with minors, and corruption of minors

He is scheduled for a formal arraignment on Oct. 14. His bail is currently set at $200,000.
