HAMPDEN TWP., Pa. (WHTM) – If you own a house or a business in Hampden Township, you are about to put more money down the drain, literally.
Beginning in October, property owners will pay a storm water fee. It is $13.25 per quarter for every residence. For commercials properties, the amount depends on the property itself.
The township said they have to charge a fee because of a new, unfunded mandate.
“Well the first thing I think everybody needs to know is it’s mandated by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency,” said Al Bienstock, President, Board of Commissioners. “It’s not something we dreamed up to put a burden on the citizens of our township,” he said.
The fee will show up as a line item on your sewer and trash bill.
