QUARRYVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) – Lancaster police were investigating a robbery when they came in contact with a tan Buick near the scene of the crime on Route 472.
When the police tried to stop the Buick, the car fled southbound. A second patrol car was called to help in the pursuit.
Police pursued the Buick and stopped near Black Rock Road. The patrol cars were positioned to slow the fleeing car without striking them.
Ryan Klein, the driver of the Buick, struck the right front of the second patrol car while trying to escape.
According to police, Klein lost control of his car and drove off the road into a field. The two police officers got out of their patrol vehicle to help the four who were in the car.
This is when Klein reversed his car and backed up towards the police officers who were on foot.
The police officers shot at the car’s tires, striking the left rear tire before Klein tried to drive off again.
The four who were fleeing threw a bag out of their car during the pursuit which was picked up by police. Police said the bag contained cocaine, heroin, and drug packaging materials.
While traveling along Bartville Road, Klein lost control of the car due to the flat tire and crashed off the roadway. Ryan Klein, Ashlyn Benn, and a third passenger remained with the car and were taken into custody. The third passenger’s name is being withheld at this time per regulations.
Passenger Donald Gentry, tried to run away on foot but was quickly stopped and arrested.
The pursuit happened along numerous roads including Hideaway Drive, Westley Road, Nobel Road, and Bartville Road.
The pursuit reached speeds above 80 miles per hour, no injuries were reported.
