YORK, Pa. (WHTM) – The opening of at Hannah Penn School, the K-8 school in York, will start later than expected due to mold found inside the building.
Classes were scheduled to begin Monday August but will now start Wednesday August 26.
According to a news release, surface mold was discovered in a few locations around the school building.
It’s believed the mold formed during the summer while the air conditioning system was offline.
School officials said numerous air quality tests confirm there are no air quality concerns.
As a precaution, classes were pushed back as workers replace all air conditioning pipe insulation with a more mold resistant material.
