HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane plans to address the criminal charges filed against her last week.
Her spokesman, Chuck Ardo, said Kane will hold a news conference and take questions from reporters at the Capitol on Wednesday.
Prosecutors say Kane orchestrated a leak of confidential information to a newspaper to embarrass a former prosecutor who criticized her handling of a bribery investigation involving state lawmakers. They say Kane also lied about the leak when she testified before a grand jury.
Kane was arraigned Saturday on charges of perjury, false swearing, official oppression, and obstruction. She was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
Kane insists she is innocent and she says she will not step down despite calls for her resignation from fellow Democrats including Governor Tom Wolf.
