Saturday arraignment slated for Pennsylvania AG Kane

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – A weekend court session is scheduled for the arraignment of Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane on criminal charges that she leaked secret grand jury information.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman’s office says the proceeding will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Norristown.

Kane, the first woman and first Democrat to be elected attorney general in Pennsylvania, is charged with perjury, obstruction, conspiracy and other offenses stemming from allegations that she leaked the confidential information in attempted payback to political enemies and then lied about it.

The 49-year-old Kane maintains that she is innocent and her lawyer says she’ll plead not guilty to the charges filed Thursday.
